I can’t believe how quickly the last couple of months of the year have flown by and now we are in 2012. I kept waiting for the snow and ice to bring work to a halt but this year we have just had wind and lashing rain with only a little ice and snow. The fields are a quagmire and everything is wet and muddy. Nevertheless, winter is really the time of year to be concentrating on bringing on young horses and developing the schooling of the older horses. Backing young horses is a real skill that takes patience and confidence.

I hope your summer competition season went better than the summer weather. We started off well with Tally competing at the Welsh Show and the NPS Show at Strathallan. He was a real superstar in his first working hunter and came 3rd being brought up the placings by his wonderful jumping.
